Studying Criminology with Psychology

For as long as I can remember, I had my heart set on going to university, so actually being here is a massive achievement for me and I feel like my younger self would be proud. I also want to be a role model for my younger sisters.

I initially looked at other universities but I came to Leeds Beckett for an open day and fell in love. I'd never studied criminology before but I was always interested by it and that's what attracted me to the course. I also loved the feeling of the university and the staff I met were really lovely which sold it for me.

How will The Bright Futures Scholarship help?

As part of my university experience, I'd love the opportunity to be able to work abroad. I'm torn between wanting to study in the USA or closer to home in Europe. Either way, the support from the Bright Futures Scholarship would help to access those opportunities so I'm really applying myself to work hard and get that placement!

With my degree, I want to either work with domestic abuse victims, work with youth offenders or potentially go down a social work pathway. All I know is that I really just want to help vulnerable people and people in need. With these options in mind, I think a career working with charities and non-profit organisations would be the dream.
