Hannah explains: “My role within the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games was technical operations manager for swimming, working in the sport functional area.

“I was responsible for planning and delivering the swimming competition according to the International Federation rules and regulations.

“Within the swimming team there were four other paid staff and over 200 volunteers who delivered over 30 hours of broadcast competition for 450 athletes and over 10,000 spectators!”

“My time at Leeds Beckett University definitely helped me build a foundation and knowledge of Event Management to help me succeed in my career.

“The placement year provided me with invaluable hands-on experience organising events and I returned for my final two years full of enthusiasm and being able to relate the theory learnt in the classroom to practical experience.

“I feel extremely lucky to have lived and worked all over the world with my job and I love the thrill and excitement events bring, especially on the scale of events such as the Commonwealth Games.”
