Jenni Rishworth 3

Jenni Rishworth is one such former student. She worked as a Spectator Services Venue Manager after securing an MSc in Sports Event Management at Leeds Beckett in 2012.

Jenni said: “My role meant I oversaw all ‘Front of House’ Spectator areas at the Coomera Indoor Sport Centre.

“The venue hosted the Artistic and Rhythmic Gymnastics and the Netball semi-finals and final. I managed a team of 250 staff and volunteers and our main purpose was to ensure high standards of spectator experience for every single one of our guests.

“The venue capacity is just over 7,000 so by the end of competition we had welcomed just short of 100,000 spectators to the venue over 14 sessions.”

The experience Jenni gained while studying at Leeds Beckett helped to prepare her for this high-profile role.

Jenni said: “Whilst studying for a Master’s Degree in Sports Event Management I had the opportunity to work at the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as on international and regional events held in Leeds.

“These fantastic opportunities gave me invaluable experience of large-scale events, enabled me to see how different teams within an event operate and helped me connect and build relationships with industry experts.”
