Your campus card (or student ID) is your key to on-campus facilities and services.

On this page you’ll find information about what you’ll need your campus card for and how to get one if you’re a new student or if you need a replacement.

What is a campus card and what do I need it for?

When you start a new course for the first time, most students will receive a student campus card. Your card contains details about you, such as your name, your username and when your card expires. It also contains a photo for identification purposes. Your campus card is essential for accessing key facilities and services on campus. You will need your card for:

  • Access to certain buildings
  • Printing while on campus
  • Access to sports facilities
  • Library access
  • Proof of student status for exams

Most new students will receive their card by post, to their term-time address within the first few weeks of Welcome and Induction. If you haven’t provided us with a term-time address on registration, your card may be sent to your home address instead.

If you haven’t received yours, you can request a new card via the ‘Campus Card request’ form. You will also be able to select if you would like your card to be posted to a preferred UK address or book a collection from one of our Student Services Centres.

You can also request a new card via this form:

  • If you are newly enrolled on to a course this year (first year of an undergraduate / postgraduate / part-time course)
  • If you need to update the expiry date on your card
  • If your card is faulty
  • If you have had your card stolen and have a crime reference number
  • If our university has deemed that your photo is no longer a true likeness of you

If you are an international student, you will be required to attend your international check-in with Student Immigration, Advice and Compliance (SIAC) before you can receive your campus card. We will be unable to produce your card before this has been completed.

Once your international check-in has been completed, you can request your card via the ‘Campus card request’ form. You will be able to select if you would like your card to be posted to a preferred UK address or book a collection from one of our Student Services Centres.

Please note that we are currently unable to post cards to addresses outside of the UK.
