Financial support from Leeds Beckett

If you are facing unexpected financial difficulties then you may be eligible for additional funds to help you.

On this page you'll find information about the financial support that is available to students at Leeds Beckett University. This information relates to the 2025/26 academic year.

Funds available

Our Hardship Funds provide additional financial help towards the essential costs associated with being a student.

The Summer Assistance Fund provides support for certain categories of student experiencing financial hardship over the summer.

Our university is offering support to new full-time undergraduate students, who are having difficulty in paying an advanced rent payment for their university accommodation.

The scheme will consider assisting with advanced rent of up to £200 and will be paid through our Hardship Fund. This is only available for new students who are moving into Leeds Beckett University-owned accommodation.

Students must have accepted a place at Leeds Beckett University and have applied for their full statutory support before they can apply for this scheme.

The scheme is open to students from:

  • low-income backgrounds (below £25,000 p.a. for a couple)
  • students who are in receipt of means-tested welfare benefits
  • students who are dependant upon parents who are in receipt of means-tested welfare benefits
  • students who are classed as independent or are estranged from their parents and on a low income

You can apply for your advanced rent to be covered by the Advanced Rent Payment Scheme on the accommodation booking system once you have made a booking.

The bursary is intended to assist students who are leaving care to attend university or who have been living independently since experiencing care. The bursary will also support those undergraduate students estranged from their families. For students studying in 2026/27, the amount payable is £2000 per year, which will each be paid in four equal instalments across the academic year.

The bursary is intended to assist full-time undergraduate students who have responsibility as primary carer for a dependant adult that will continue whilst they are studying.

For students studying with us in 2026/27, the amount payable will be assessed based on individual circumstances, to a maximum award of £2000 per year, paid in four equal instalments across the academic year Assessment of eligibility will be revisited in each year of your course that you wish to be considered for the bursary.

This bursary is intended to support full-time undergraduate students who are undertaking a work placement or employability activity as part of their course. The support is available to students with a household income of less than £42,875, as verified by the student loans company.

 Awards from the fund do not have to be returned to our university. 

Applications for this bursary open on Monday 21st September 2026 and remain open for the whole academic year and summer period
