Who is the scholarship awarded to?

The Andrew Platten Scholarship was established to commemorate Andrew's life and his exemplary contribution to the university. As such, the scholarship is endowed in perpetuity.

Andrew Platten worked at Leeds Beckett for eight years and published several influential research papers in construction management. He travelled regularly and built strong partnerships abroad, all the while remaining dedicated to teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate modules.

The Andrew Platten Scholarship is a cash award of £1,500 to students who are in their first year of study. Applicants must be studying built environment or engineering subjects and be the first in their family to attend university. Applicants to the scholarship also need to have an annual household income of £27,500 or less.

A limited number of scholarships are available each year.
