Studying Law with Criminology

“Growing up I saw issues around me with crime and violence in my local area. I aspired to become a lawyer so that I could make a difference and be able to make a contribution to help fix those issues.

"It is incredibly motivating to me to know that I have the support of the Halifax Law Society behind me to help me to achieve my goals.

“The scholarship will help me to be able to have everything I need to be able to make the most of my studies, and to not only learn everything I need to on the course but also have the opportunity to explore the law and gain additional knowledge and insight that will help me to excel in my studies and succeed in law in the future.

“In the future, I hope to be able to become a barrister and work in criminal law. At the moment I imagine that this would be in a private law firm, working with fellow professionals with more experience, and learning from them. That is my end goal, and I can't wait to achieve that knowing that all of my work before university, in my studies here, and after university will have paid off.

"Receiving this scholarship means that I know that there is someone behind me helping me to achieve my goals. This is an overwhelming feeling and it means a lot to me, as I now rely not only on my own motivation but also know that I have the Halifax Law Society behind me to support me every step of the way."
