Postgraduate research applications are welcome from candidates who wish to pursue a research interest within the broad fields of applied linguistics, including English language teaching, language acquisition, material development, corpus linguistics, human communication, discourse analysis, translation and interpreting. Active, expert practitioners

Our academic team are involved in a wide range of research projects related to language learning and teaching, actively participating in research networks at a national and international level. Our staff engage in research covering a variety of topics from historical spoken language, interpreting and translation to babbling in infants with Down's Syndrome.

Our individual research interests include corpus linguistics, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL), English for Academic Purposes (EAP), and using multimedia for teacher training.
