Harry Meadley
BA (Hons) Fine Art (2006-2009)
As a Fine Art Graduate, Harry Meadley has been successful in establishing himself as an artist whose work spans across all mediums of arts-practice and research. Graduating from Leeds Beckett, then known as Leeds Metropolitan in 2009, Meadley has continued to nurture a diverse body of work, by exploring various approaches to art-making and production.
Using methods of play to challenge pre-determined notions of presentation and authorship, Meadley often questions his own place within his work, while reflecting on the nature of the art-system. By highlighting his own modes of production, Meadley frequently addresses topical subjects from the most appropriate viewpoint.
Recent works include an eight episode interview-based web-series, hosting a late-night talk show, performing a one-hour stand-up comedy special, and releasing an audiobook chronicling the lives of his many dogs.
Recent exhibitions include: General Studies, OUTPOST Studios, Norwich; curated by Ryan Gander and Jonathan P Watts (2016), Display Show, Eastside Projects, Birmingham (2015), Turf Projects, London, UK (2016); Spike Island Test Space, Bristol, UK (2015); Code Duello, Loods 6, Amsterdam, The Netherlands (2014); Paradise Row, London, UK (2013) and David Dale Gallery, Glasgow, UK (2013). Meadley’s work has also been shown in numerous group exhibitions, in venues such as Eastside Projects, Birmingham, UK (2015); and Northern Gallery of Contemporary Art, Sunderland, UK (2014). Harry Meadley lives and works in Leeds, UK.
Harry Meadley is now a Senior Lecturer in Fine Art at Leeds Beckett University.
