Simon Hill

BSc (Hons) Music Technology (2010)

After graduating in 2010 with a first, Simon has worked on projects including Les Miserables which picked up an Oscar for the Best Sound Mixing and a BAFTA for Best Sound.

“The knowledge and skills, along with the additional opportunities I had whilst studying helped me get where I am now. A guest lecturer put me in touch with a company in London where I got a job as a runner. It's through that one contact that I got all of my jobs."

He has worked as an audio assistant on a range of TV programmes including BBC Horizon. He has also worked on as a mix technician for Les Miserables and a sound mix technician for Dark Shadows which featured Johnny Depp. He is now working as a sound mix technician in the film side of Halo Post. He said: “The Music Technology course at Leeds Met isn't just the modules you undertake but also the opportunities that you have and the additional projects you can get involved with which were really helpful in building confidence and your portfolio. Working with the Northern Film School in sound technology led me to a number of short film production projects in my second year and to pursuing sound for film and TV in my final year. Simon is currently working with Working Title alongside director Richard Curtis (famous for Love Actually and Notting Hill.)
