Students with allergies

Your requirements

As part of the online booking process, we ask all students if they have any allergies. You do not need to declare an allergy, but it can be useful to ensure that your accommodation meets your needs and that we can offer you the best support whilst you're living with us.

This information will not be shared with your flatmates. We may share this information with our partners who run the accommodation to best support your needs. You can also opt-in to share the information with other university services (for example Food Services) to help keep you safe on campus.

As part of the online form, we ask if you are prescribed with an AAI. If you use an AAI we recommend you carry your AAI on you at all times. We also recommend that you let your flatmates know about your allergy and where you store your AAI. You may also wish to let them know how to use an AAI.

The Res Life team can help facilitate this conversation so please get in touch with them if you would like their support - reslife@leedsbeckett.ac.uk.

If you told us you use an AAI when you completed your online form, we will send you an email pre-arrival with more information on how to prepare for managing your allergy during your time at university.

If you have an airborne allergy we recommend you let your flatmates know as you may wish to ask them to avoid bringing certain products into shared spaces if possible. You may also want to speak to them about the importance of keeping food preparation areas clean to avoid cross-contamination. We understand that this can be a difficult conversation, so the Res Life team are on hand to help with this if you need - reslife@leedsbeckett.ac.uk.

Depending on the severity of your allergy you may prefer to live in a studio flat. If you would like to discuss this please contact the accommodation team - accommodation@leedsbeckett.ac.uk.
