From deals on food to free transport, LBU has ways to help with the cost of living during your time as a student.
At Beckett Kitchen on both campuses, grab Lunch for Less with two daily dishes for just £2, or enjoy free porridge with a tea or filter coffee every Tuesday and Thursday, 9.30–11.30am (until December).
Getting to campus is easier too. Our free weekday shuttle bus runs between Headingley (James Graham building) and City campuses (Portland Way), and you can also hire a bike for just £50 for three months or use Leeds Beryl bikes with a 25% student discount.
University is an incredible experience, and we know that many students need some help along the way. Our extensive Student Support Network is here to help, from academic and wellbeing support to advice on issues affecting your student experience.

10 LBU students will receive a £1,000 Brighter Futures Grant thanks to our partnership with Santander Universities.
All current students can apply, you don’t need to bank with Santander. You can spend it on whatever you need including rent, bills, study equipment or everyday living costs and you will also get free access to Santander Open Academy’s online learning resources.

Black History Month 2026 in the UK runs throughout October, with the official theme 'Honouring Our Communities'.
Leeds Beckett is hosting a talk, ‘Locating Charles Wotten, in and beyond the archives’ with guest speaker, Kirsty Warren, exploring the history and hidden story of Charles Wotten - a merchant mariner murdered in 1919 during the Liverpool race riots.

Leeds Beckett Students' Union (LBSU) is led by students for students, and it’s their mission to make your uni experience the very best that it can be!
They represent all Leeds Beckett students, and campaign for the changes you want to see in the university and beyond. They do this by representing your interests, supporting student groups, hosting gigs and events, giving you the chance to meet new people, and creating CV-boosting opportunities.

They also have a social space on campus in the Woodhouse Building, The Hive, where you'll find a bar serving food until 15:30, free gaming hub, events hall and a grab-and-go food venue called The Hatch.
Throughout October, we’ll be focusing on five different themes to help you stay safe online:
Cyber Hygiene, Online Safety, Privacy and Protection, Devices and Network, Avoiding Phishing
We’ve created a series of short guidance documents covering each theme, with simple tips to help you protect your accounts, personal information and devices.
Everyone has a role to play in keeping our digital environment secure, so take some time to explore the guidance and put the advice into practice. If you have any questions or concerns about cyber security, contact the Cyber Security team at CyberSecurity@leedsbeckett.ac.uk.
Peer Talk is a free, confidential peer support group for Leeds Beckett students. Sessions are facilitated by trained volunteers and continue throughout the summer break.
You don’t need to be in crisis or have a diagnosis – it’s just a chance to be listened to by others who understand. Our group runs every Tuesday evening at City campus, and you can just turn up. To find out more, please visit PeerTalk Support Groups.
If you’re a female-identifying student under 25, you can also join weekly creative wellbeing sessions hosted by Women’s Health Matters. The sessions offer a free, confidential space to get creative, with all art supplies provided.
