FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE AND CAMPUS OPENING HOURS

As we head into the summer months, some campus services will be changing their opening times and schedules. Here’s what you need to know. The free shuttle bus that runs between campuses will end for this academic year on Friday (15 May). Services will resume at the start of term on Monday 21 September. First Bus route 22 will not stop on Headingley Campus over the summer - this service also finishes on Friday 15 May. It will resume on Monday 31 August. The Hive is now closed for the summer and will reopen in the new academic year. From Monday 1 June, both City and Headingley Campus buildings will move to summer opening hours. Please check the latest opening times before you travel.

TV LICENCE REFUND

Heading home for summer? You might be able to claim money back on your TV Licence before you go.

If you’re moving out of halls or rented student accommodation and returning to a home address that’s already covered by a TV Licence, you could be eligible for a refund. To apply, there must be at least one full month remaining on your licence.

Applying is quick and can be done online. You’ll need your TV Licence details plus evidence that the licence is no longer needed at your student address.

job opportunities

Looking for a part-time job or your first graduate role?

Leeds Beckett Students' Union has three exciting opportunities available - two student roles; Lead Content Creator and Student Community Organiser, as well as one graduate role; Community Development Assistant. Apply via the StaffSavvy Jobs Portal.

Make moving easier this summer

As the end of term approaches, many students will be packing up and heading home for the summer.

Leeds City Council, Revive Leeds and the university have teamed up to provide extra donation banks across the city, making it easier to pass on the items you no longer need.

From clothes and kitchenware to bedding and books, your unwanted items could help someone else instead of going to waste. Find your nearest donation bank.

Renters Rights

Sweeping changes to the rules around tenancies come into effect on Friday 1 May. The traditional 12 month contract no longer exists, so you probably have to give your landlord notice that you intend to leave – even if its at the end of the contract you signed last year.

Read the Students Union’s full guide to the new rights you have as a tenant (Renter's Rights Act), and the details of how to give notice from Unipol Giving Notice - Joint and Individual Tenancies

GRADUATION 2026 BOOKINGS NOW OPEN

With Graduation 2026 just a few weeks away, you can now book your graduation place.

As part of the university's response to the cost-of-living crisis, your graduation place, gown hire and your first two guest tickets are free. Additional guest tickets cost £10 each, and children under two can attend free if seated on a guest’s lap.

After booking your place, you can arrange your free gown hire and official photography with William Northam. Bookings close on Friday 12 June 2026, so make sure to secure your place as soon as possible.

You can also celebrate your achievement with official hoodies, gifts and keepsakes from the Leeds Beckett Merchandise Store

Change the narrative launches

Change The Narrative has launched as part of Mental Health Awareness Week.

This new citywide campaign brings together partners and communities across Leeds to challenge mental health stigma and encourage more open conversations about mental health.

Peer Talk

Peer Talk is a free, confidential peer support group for Leeds Beckett students. Sessions are facilitated by trained volunteers and continue throughout the summer break.

You don’t need to be in crisis or have a diagnosis – it’s just a chance to be listened to by others who understand. Our group runs every Tuesday evening at City campus, and you can just turn up. To find out more, please visit PeerTalk Support Groups.
