Poly Ollies Scholarship
The 'Poly Ollies' were Leeds Polytechnic's first ever rugby union team
The scholarship was set up by Tony Horsfall, the captain of the 'Poly Ollies'. The team were the first Leeds Polytechnic team to play against the University of Leeds in 1976, besting them on that historic occasion.
The scholarship is awarded to one first year student each year who is studying at the Carnegie School of Sport. The student will have excelled in their entry qualifications and also be the first in their family to attend university.

"I am passionate about sport, in particular rugby and athletics, and I want to help others to be the best they can be and achieve their goals. My goals are to try and play rugby at as high a level as I can just like the Poly Ollies, and also to help children to play sport, particularly those who are less fortunate than others."Lewis Hyland-Dugbo BSc (Hons) Sport Coaching
"Money can be a sensitive subject and the thought of going to university was only a dream before I found out about grants and scholarships. Receiving a scholarship has taken the financial stress away."Maisy Swan-Taylor BSc (Hons) Sport & Exercise Science
