Studying Business Accounting with Finance
"I have had an interest in business and finance from a young age. My first ever work experience was at a Chartered Accountants which started my passion for the subject. Because of this I went on to study an apprenticeship in the accounts department at a solicitors. With this interest and experience, a finance degree seemed like the best next step to take.
"I came to Leeds Beckett on an open day and met the course director who told me all about the course. It was clear that the course would give me all of the knowledge and skills I needed to understand how businesses operate, and to work towards a career in finance. As Leeds has such a prominent financial industry as well, it seemed like the ideal place to study and to be able to move into work after graduating.
"I am very keen on applying for a work placement in my third year and the scholarship will help me afford some of the costs such as travel and attending job interviews. It will also allow me to apply confidently for placements without fear of not being able to afford the associated costs, ensuring that I can fully take advantage of the opportunity and experience.
"I hope to work towards a career in finance, and I have an ambition to work as part of a team or in a company financing creative projects and businesses that are looking to rebuild and make a positive difference in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. I also have an ambition to live and work in Japan at some point in my career. I have already started learning some of the language, and I would love the opportunity to experience Japanese culture and gain more communication skills."
