Animations & Interaction

The Leeds Beckett University website occasionally uses animations to page elements and animated gifs to add impact to pages. If you wish to stop them from playing for accessibility purposes or for personal preference then please see the guidance below. Please note that browsers sometimes change how they operate, so please refer to your browser help files to find their latest information.
How do I turn off animations?

Chrome

Chrome users will need to use browser extensions. Animation Policy from Google will help you set your own preferences.

Microsoft Edge

There is currently no way to disable animations within Microsoft Edge. Users of Edge (Chromium) browser can install the Chrome extensions above and use them.

Internet Explorer

To stop animations on a single page you can just press the 'Esc' key. This will stop the animation on that page. If you wish to restart the animations you need to refresh the page. To permanently disable the playing of animated GIF images, open Internet Options > Advanced tab. Under the Multimedia section, uncheck the Play animations in webpage check-box, click Apply and Exit and then restart your computer.

Firefox

Type about:config in Firefox address bar and hit Enter to open Settings. Search for the image.animation_mode flag and change its value from Normal to None. Once you restart Firefox this will disable animations.

“I have really fond memories of going to the Bradford Media Museum when I was a child. Looking back now, this clearly played a key part in my interest in music and music production.

At college I studied a production-based course which kick-started my journey into the world of media. This is around the time I decided that I wanted to study at Leeds Beckett, and already, I’ve covered so much more ground in my course.

"I find Broadcast Media Technologies particularly interesting as it has an excellent blend of modules I covered in college, in addition to content that I have never had the opportunity to engage with before.

I am quite a creative person, so being on a course where I'd be creating and expressing myself was the largest factor in my decision to study at Leeds Beckett. I’ve also met lots of like-minded people on my course which has been great.

How will The Paul Wilmott Scholarship Help?

The Paul Wilmott Scholarship Fund will help me so much as it will allow me to buy better storage equipment that the will give me access to a wider range of software required for my course.

I’m also hoping that the scholarship will give me the means to participate in work placement opportunities partnered with my course. I really hope that my time at university will provide me with opportunities and hand-on experiences to help build a career in this industry."
