Studying Broadcast Media Technologies

“Studying Broadcast Media at Leeds Beckett was always the best course in my eyes. Radio always fascinated me, but the course offered such a wide variety of career paths that you could go in to afterwards, and the course offered so many opportunities to learn about the industry and get your foot in the door, guided by the lecturer's knowledge.

"I felt that the course covered a wide variety of areas including TV, film, radio, graphics and researching, and it also offered great facilities and a wide range of equipment to get hands on experience.

“At the moment at university I am massively reliant on working part-time to support myself at university, and using savings from my jobs as a teenager and on my year out before coming to Leeds Beckett. This does mean however in my first year that it has been difficult to balance work and my studies. The scholarship will help me to have more time to focus on my studies, and will give me the opportunity to purchase some equipment to give me more time and opportunities to develop my skills.

“I am honoured that I have been chosen to receive this award. I will not take it for granted and I will use it to help me do as well as I possibly can in my studies, and achieve the best results I can so that I can go on to succeed in the industry.

"I would really like to work in the radio industry in the future, either presenting or on the production side, and I will use everything that I have learned at Leeds Beckett to help me to achieve this."
