Studying Psychology

I chose to study psychology at Leeds Beckett as it has always been an area that I have been curious about, I’ve always loved exploring the idea of consciousness and how we are able to perceive things. Additionally, I’d like to help those struggling with mental illness as it is a growing issue in our society and having the opportunity to help is very motivating.

Coming to study at Leeds Beckett seemed like the perfect step for me, as studying in my home city was ideal for me as I didn't want to move too far away from home. It meant a lot to be able to come and study at Leeds Beckett as I’m the first person in my family to attend university. I was very excited and relieved when I found out I had a place here.

I would like to go on to study a masters in neuroscience after this degree to be able to go on and become a neuroscientist in the future.

My family have been financially affected by Covid-19, which has caused me a lot of stress in my university life. Receiving this scholarship will help me with my university studies and help me keep up with rent and other living costs. I will be able to buy all my core textbooks for my course, but I will also be able to buy additional psychology books to help expand my knowledge.

Receiving the Bright Futures Scholarship is a massive opportunity for me to help me make the most of university and really focus on my studies. I am so grateful to everyone who has donated to this scholarship and helping me to achieve my goals.
