Youth and community projects

We are proud to deliver activity programmes for youth and community groups, helping people to make extraordinary friendships, learn new skills and create unforgettable memories.

From day sessions to overnight residential stays, our activities can bring people in your community together – whether that’s a community living in the same area, or people with similar interests. We have a variety of activity options to suit all age ranges and group sizes.

For youth and community groups looking to gain new skills or an introductory qualification we offer the two-day Hill Skills and one-day Rock Skills Introduction courses for beginners looking to learn the basics of hill walking and rock climbing. We are also accredited to deliver Duke of Edinburgh Gold, Silver and Bronze Award expeditions for youth groups and schools.

Community Groups

Some of the types of community groups we provide activities for include:

We have been delivering the adventure activities for National Citizenship Service (NCS) programmes since 2011. We have delivered for the YHA and Football League Trust, vInspired National Youth Agency partnership, and Invasion Camp Group.

NCS is a personal and social development programme for young people aged 16-17, and CGO deliver a range of adventure activities during the Away From Home experience.

The Away from Home NCS programme gives young people the opportunity to stay at a hostel getting to know each other, building confidence, new skills and experiencing the freedom of being away from home with new friends. They are encouraged to get involved in adrenaline-fuelled activities such as: rock climbing, canoeing, caving and gorge scrambling.

Motivate and challenge your sports team with an outdoor adventure activity session run by CGO. In team sports a sense of togetherness and unity is key, as is communication, understanding and empathy. Our team building activities can help your sports team to understand the value of harmony and solidarity, we can help players to get to know each other better and even provide a morale boost after a few defeats. We can provide an activity session or weekend programme to help motivate and inspire, strengthen the team bonds and bring players closer together. We can provide team development activities at your own sport or practice venue, or we can arrange a day out or weekend trip to experience something more adventurous such as gorge scrambling or raft building.

Social action is about people coming together to help improve their lives and solve the problems that are important in their communities. We can offer our support and expertise to make your ideas a reality by helping you to understand the environmental impact, impact on community and other users of being in the great outdoors.

Our activity sessions provide opportunities for young people to build their skills and networks outside of school, and enable young people to give back to their communities. Our activities help young people to encourage and support each other whilst making friends. Our youth group programmes can also be a chance to try an activity that participants may never have tried before. Whether you are looking for a one day or weekend activity package we have a variety of activities that can be tailored to your group.
We are committed to the principles of learning outside the classroom and can provide enriching after-school activities or sessions for holiday clubs that promote the wellbeing of children, with indoor and outdoor activity options available. If you are an after-school club coordinator or holiday activity club organiser who is looking for something to keep the children fit, healthy, active and entertained then get in touch with us. We can provide fun and engaging team building activities on site at school such as crate stacking, water pipe or catapult challenge, or we can arrange activity sessions in the great outdoors such as archery, abseiling or hill walking. We can even work with you to create a series of activities or lessons to cover a full term or school year.
We deliver bespoke and tailored activities to young people ages 18-24 years who are not in education, employment or training (NEET). We design our activity programmes to build participants' self-belief, confidence and resilience and our activities focus on team building and communication skills which are vital skills necessary for adult life and future employability. These activities can help young people to develop their interests and passion for outdoor adventure and can help to develop positive attitudes towards improving their wellbeing.
We can provide activity taster sessions for residents and neighbourhood groups to come together and meet each other whilst taking part in fun activities. These sessions are a great way for neighbours to get together to talk, the sessions are relaxed and informal and everyone is welcome. From a guided group walk, to a rock climbing excursion, from a relaxed paddle on the canal to a have-a-go archery session, we have a range of activities to suit all interests. Why not organise a fun social get together in your local area, come along and encourage community spirit? You could even raise money for your community project by organising a fundraising event for your neighbours to take part in.
