Raising concerns
Raising concerns for the School of Health and Speech and Language Therapy
Initially, regardless of whether a concern or incident in the practice learning area is a concern for the safety of the service users, a concern about the learning environment or a concern regarding an individual student whilst they are on placement, you should raise it with the person responsible for supervising or assessing you in the placement area and as appropriate discuss and report with staff at Leeds Beckett University. Depending on the circumstances this may need to escalate to the educational lead, the Organisation’s Freedom to speak up Guardians to resolve the matter.
Considerations for university staff when investigating any concerns
- Are there any immediate or urgent safety concerns for patients, staff, students and learners?
- Are there any public protection or safeguarding concerns?
- Is there a requirement for suspension of this student or learner pending an investigation? Has the educational lead at trust level been informed?
