Leeds Beckett University is a not for profit university with the charitable purpose of advancing education for the public benefit.

Surpluses are reinvested in the university for the benefit of our students and the wider community.

Our vision that drives our strategic plan, is to be acknowledged for our commitment to student success, our innovation and enterprise, our global reach and our strong local impact.

Our university has a strong tradition of, and continuing commitment to, providing socially inclusive and life enhancing higher education opportunities for all our students, regardless of background. We invest in annual bursary schemes and progression activities to encourage students into higher education who traditionally would have not have considered this as an option.  These students are further supported, as are all of our students, by our academic and student support services to help them to realise their full academic potential.

Our university makes a significant contribution to the regional economy. As well as a provider of high quality graduates, we support business and the wider community through the provision of high quality research and consultancy services. It is estimated that over £500m of economic activity within the region is dependent on the  university’s teaching, research and other activity.

The financial year at our university runs from 1 August to 31 July.
