All of our academics have worked in health, public health or social care, and many still maintain their professional practice to ensure that we maintain a strong link between our teaching and the demands of the professional workplace. Sue Sherwin
Sue Sherwin is Dean for the School of Health and Community Studies. She joined our University as a Senior Lecturer in 1996 after supporting the development of the first degree in Mental Health Nursing from Leeds Beckett.

Emeritus Professors
Alan is Emeritus Professor of Men’s Health at Leeds Beckett University. His research interests have tended to focus on improving our understanding of the health needs of men and boys locally, nationally and internationally. His expertise lies in putting a gendered lens on data and in exploring men’s relationships with public health services – whether delivered through statutory services or through the 3rd Sector and Voluntary organisations. Currently he is on the WHO (Europe) core group pulling together their first Men’s Health Report and Strategy.
Research interests
