A verification of award letter confirms your qualification and classification. It may be required for employers, prospective employers, voluntary organisations or educational institutions as proof of a former student's attainment.

It is not an academic transcript, and does not show marks for individual units.

The verification letter will have your full name you studied under, the award type, course title, award classification (where applicable) and date of the Board of Examiners confirming your award. The hardcopy letters are produced on university-headed paper by the Registration and Awards team (Registry).

Please note that for the majority of awards conferred prior to October 1992, Leeds Beckett University was not the awarding body and we may not be able to verify these awards. Contact us at this email address if you need further information: registrationandawards@leedsbeckett.ac.uk

How to order a letter of verification

A hardcopy of a letter of verification costs £12 and will be posted to you. We can also email an electronic copy to you free of charge.

The letter contains the following information: The full name you studied under, the award type, course title, award classification (where applicable), date of the Board of Examiners confirming your award. The hardcopy letters are produced on university headed paper by the Registration and Awards team (Registry).

For letters detailing attendance dates, or module or course information, please contact your course administration team - the Student Advice Team will put you in contact with them.

To order a Letter of Verification follow the steps below:

To make a payment use the online store here – you will be emailed a receipt for the purchase (for hardcopy only).

Print, read and fill out this form signing by hand: 'Letter of verification' form – also fill out the form if you require an electronic copy only.

Scan the completed form and a form of photo ID – attach these to the receipt email and forward them to us at: registrationandawards@leedsbeckett.ac.uk.

Please note that documents will be posted via Royal Mail. If you would like to arrange a courier instead, indicate this when you email your application form, and we will notify you when your documents are ready for collection by them. Alternatively, you can collect the documents from our office, or arrange for someone to collect them on your behalf.

Verifications to employers and 3rd parties

Verifications sent from third parties can be directed to registrationandawards@leedsbeckett.ac.uk and must include a signed letter of consent from the candidate / graduate – we cannot process these without their consent. Please note that only information provided will be verified and no additional information will be provided to third parties.
