Robin graduated with a BA (Hons) Business degree in 2003, and soon he realised he wanted to run his own business involving his passion for the internet. In 2005 he launched Epiphany, a digital agency, and for the next nine years focused on growing the business until he sold it in 2014.
Leeds Beckett University incubated the business for the first 12 months, using offices in Queen Square House. This support was invaluable to Robin and enabled him to grow Epiphany from two to 160 staff, operating from offices in Leeds, London and Sydney, when Robin sold the business the company was turning over nearly £10million per year.
“Leeds Beckett University completely changed my life and put me on a course that has allowed me to achieve a lifetime of ambition at the age of 36.”
Epiphany was also very involved in the Jane Tomlinson appeal, helping with fundraising, website development and their digital marketing – part of their CSR strategy was to support local charities. Robin also spent much of his spare time travelling, experiencing new cultures and looking for inspiration for future business ideas.
Robin’s love for business, travel and the internet pushed him in a new direction in 2016, when he found himself heavily involved in the evolution of Snaptrip, a last minute cottage provider.
Robin is also CEO of Journey Further, a pay-per-click and programmatic only agency who work with companies of all sizes to help them drive year-on-year online growth through paid media. Having lived in London for the last five years, Robin has returned to Leeds to focus on setting up the company. He made the decision to move back to Leeds because of the size of the talent pool in the city. He is also planning to give something back next year, hoping to launch an academy in partnership with our University. Robin said “we are currently working on a new scheme that will bring recent graduates into the agency and provide them with on the job learning to enable them to start a career in digital marketing and communication – one of the most sought after sectors of the industry in the world.”
