Sophie Robinson - BA (Hons) Business Management, 2019
Within a year of graduating from Leeds Beckett, I started my professional career at Yorkshire Bank, alongside being a member of Leeds Rhinos’ Challenge Cup winning side and I become the face of a new campaign for sportswear giant Adidas.
What did you do after you graduated?
“Within a year of graduating from Leeds Beckett, I started my professional career at Yorkshire Bank, alongside being a member of Leeds Rhinos’ Challenge Cup winning side and I become the face of a new campaign for sportswear giant Adidas. My busy daily schedule means I have to balance my role as a Financial Care Associate with training and playing for the Rhinos’ women’s team.
How do you cope with such a busy schedule?
“Being able to find the time for studying and the time for competing was something that I developed during my time at the university.
“With working and competing at a high level in rugby league, it can be difficult. I learned a lot about managing my time, how to make time to get assignments done without neglecting my rugby career, and that’s something that I’ve taken forward now."
“You never know, you might end up representing the university or even higher. At the end of the day, you know you’ll make some great friends.”
And how did you become the new face of Adidas?
“I was really excited to be involved in the campaign. Everyone knows Adidas as a brand, and it was a dream come true to have the chance to work with them. I’m involved in a new campaign to promote their new ‘Futurecraft.Strung’ shoe, which was filmed at the new Carnegie School of Sport Building.
What advice would you give other students?
“My rugby career with the Rhinos began in 2018 while I was at Leeds Beckett. My advice would be to take the opportunity to try something new while you can. Get involved in something you’ve never tried. Even if you’re not the best, it’s great for the social side."
