Before you return for a new year

Important tasks to complete

As you head back to Leeds Beckett for a new academic year there are a few admin requirements and other tasks that you need to complete to ensure that your return to studying with us goes as smoothly as possible.

1. Re-enrol on your course

It is important you re-enrol on to your course to access your student loan and to update your contact information. Please note, your student loan will be paid 3-5 working days from your course start date. This is however, on the basis that you have completed your re-enrolment.

If you experience any issues re-enrolling, please contact welcome@leedsbeckett.ac.uk.

2. Ensure you have your campus card

If you intend to come onto campus, you will require your card for access to various buildings, including the library, and as a form of ID.

If you have lost your card, please order your replacement from the online store. There is a £10 charge for a replacement card.

3. Download your timetable via MyBeckett

Your new timetable will be available during Welcome in your MyBeckett account.

If you have any difficulties accessing your timetable or engaging with timetabled sessions please discuss with your Course Administrator.

4. Know your accommodation

If you have decided to live in university managed accommodation and been offered a place, you should have received confirmation of this from our accommodation team.

If you haven't sorted your accommodation yet, don't worry, there may still be rooms available and our accommodation team can support you with this process. See our accommodation website for further information.

5. Have your finances in place

Please note, your Student Loan will likely be paid between three to five working days from your course start date for this year. This is however, on the basis that have you have completed your re-enrolment. If you need any help with applying for your student loan, the Student Loans Company (SLC) have created special guidance and FAQs.

If you are having problems with your student finance, you can access help and support from the Student Money team, who can also support you in applying for bursaries and scholarships.

6. International students: Check in

Returning overseas students who require immigration permission to be in the UK need to evidence this to the university on their arrival. For this reason, the Student Immigration Advice and Compliance (SIAC) team run International Check-In sessions in January. Prior to your arrival in the UK, SIAC will contact you via email to arrange your international check-in.

We are located in the Student Services Centres in the Leslie Silver building (City Campus) and Priestley Hall (Headingley Campus). Our opening times are:- Monday: 09.00 – 17.00 Tuesday: 10.00 – 17.00 Wednesday: 09.00 – 17.00 Thursday: 09.00 – 17.00 Friday: 09.00 – 16.30.
