We are dedicated to building partnerships, developing broad industry links and embedding employability into our curriculum to give you the best chance of achieving your career goals.
We offer our students the opportunity to gain valuable experience of the world of work through industry placements and internships, and we work with diverse organisations to ensure you'll gain vital experience in your area of expertise. An internship can help you develop your existing skills, as well as learning valuable new ones and can help you to decide what kind of career you would like to pursue.
Opportunities are advertised through MyHub and we will alert you via your student email.
Our employability events are a great opportunity for students to focus on building their transferrable skills and network with employers, sports professionals and alumni.
Carnegie School of Sport employability event at Elland Road Stadium Carnegie School of Sport and Elland Road teamed up to host our 2019 event highlighting the importance of employability as a student. We invite you to engage with our Carnegie School of Sport Internship Programme, a programme we aim to be mutually beneficial to your organisation and the wider Leeds Beckett University community. By providing opportunities within the programme, we ask you share your expertise and environment to enhance the knowledge and employability of our students, as well as be open to a fresh insight or valuable resource that our students can offer.
Different levels of involvement can be facilitated dependent upon your organisational needs and by engaging with our programme you'll benefit from:
Similarly to placements, internships provide students with the opportunity to gain real 'hands on' experience in an organisation for an extended period. This may be additional to course requirements and a bigger commitment can be expected from the student.
We are keen to find organisations that offer quality placements and will work with our students to provide experiential learning opportunities linked to a module on their academic programme.
Our students are required to carry out a Final Year Project which can be linked to your organisation. If you have any areas of research or consultancy you would be keen for a student or students to work on we can help facilitate this.
To enhance personal development, we promote the importance of volunteering to students throughout their time at university. If you have any volunteer opportunities, such as special events, match days, ambassador roles we can promote these to students.
