Message from the Dean, Pete Mackreth
Welcome to the Carnegie School of Sport. Since our formation in 1933, we have been committed to shaping the future of sport, changing lives for the better by helping to improve practice, policy and performance.
This remains true today, with our experts helping to shape Government policy for population health, optimise performance of athletes, coaches and educators, while protecting their safety. They also work to promote sport as a tool for positive change in society, with the power to transform lives and communities.
Our world-class campus facilities boast a range of cutting-edge laboratories which provide the best environment for teaching, research, student athletes and our work with professional clubs.
With integrated, practical courses and applied teaching, our curriculum is designed to equip you with the tools to succeed in your chosen field. From exercise for population health and high-performance sport, to community coaching and sport business management, the Carnegie School of Sport offers opportunities for many different career avenues and experiences, all under one roof.
As one of the largest providers of sport in UK higher education, we have a long legacy of inspirational alumni who have gone on to make history playing, researching and making a positive difference to sport and wider society. As part of our School, you will have the opportunity to create a lifelong network of peers and learn from our national and international networks.
Central to the quality of our teaching is our leading staff research and we are proud to be ranked second in the country on the latest Research Excellence Framework. In 2020, Leeds Beckett was also placed in the top 100 universities globally for sport-related subjects by the QS World University Rankings.
